“ｔｈｅｒｅ ｂｅ”结构初探

（一）there be后面有一系列事物，be动词应与其靠近名词保持数的一致
1.There is a teacher and many students in the classroom.
2.There are two pens and an eraser in my pencilcase.
（二）there be 结构中的谓语动词可以是be going to, happen to, seem to, used to,be likely to+…the
1.There is going to be a meeting this afternoon.今天下午有个会议。
2.There seems to be a heavy wind tonight.今晚好像有强风。
3.There happened to be a bus station nearby.碰巧附近有车站。
4.There used to be many trees in front of my house.从前我家前面有许多树。
5.There is likely to be a big meeting during the festival.在假期期间可能有一个很大的集会。
（三）“there be”结构中还可以用除be 动词外的不及物动词，如live,exist,stand,lie,remain,go,come等
1.once there lived an artist in the village.从前村子里住着一个画家。
2.There stands a man with a book in his hand. 那站着一个人，手里面拿着一本书。
3.There lies a small village behind the hills.在山后坐落着一个小山村。
4.There goes the bell.铃声响了。
5.There comes the teacher.老师来了。
（四）“there be”结构的非限定式为there to be 和there being，它们可以作主语，宾语或状语
1．作主语。There being 结构可以起名词的作用，与其后面的名词一起作主语。当there to be+名词词组作主语时，通常用for引导。
（1）There being a shopping center near my home is very convenient.我家旁边有一家购物中心，真是方便极了。
（2）It would be surprising for there to be no students in the classroom now. 教室里没有任何学生，这倒会令人吃惊。
2.作状语。用作状语的there be非谓语形式，通常用there being结构。
（1）There being nobody in the room, I didn't so in .由于屋里没有人，我没有进去。
（2）There being nothing else to do, we went home.没有什么别的事可做，我们就回家了。
3.作宾语。作动词宾语时，通常用there to be结构。能这样用的及物动词为数有限，常见的有expect,like,mean,intend,want,prefer等。
（1）We expect there to be on argument.我们希望不再有争吵。
（2）I would like there to be a beautiful garden in our yard.我喜欢在我们院子有一个美丽的花园。
（3）People don，t want there to be another war.人们不希望再有战争。
作介词宾语时，如果介词是for,便只能用there to be 结构。否则要用there being结构。
（1）The teacher was waiting for there to be complete silence.老师在等着大家都安静下来。
（2）Inever dreamed of there being any chance for me to try.我做梦也没想到有让我试一试的机会。
（3）He was disappoint at there being so few friends come to his birthday party. 看到只有这么少的朋友参加他的生日晚会，他非常失望。
