“How can they grow faster?” said the man. He decided to help them.
One night he thought out a good idea. Early the next morning, he ran to the fields. He pulled each one of the shoots up a bit,so they looked a little higher.
At sunset he went home. He was tired but he said proudly to his family, “I had a busy day today! I have helped the young shoots to grow.”
His son ran out to the fields to have a look, and found that all their rice shoots had died.
Today this idiom is used to describe those who seek success by ignoring the natural rules, they usually end up with poor results.
