AbstractTo the five-year nursing undergraduates,as the purpose of English learning is to use it in their future work,how to improve their communicative competence(CC) is of great importance.Communicative strategy(CS) is one of the basic approaches to developing CC.The empirical study which is designed on the theoretical basis of social constructivist framework is done by mixing the CS training on approximation,circumlocution and appeals into English teaching for the period taking as long as one semester.The results show that the strategic competence is improved and give a positive answer to the research question:Does CS training have any positive effect on the trainee's oral English communication proficiency?
