Abstract Innovations on abbreviation of currently-used Chinese Braille should be based upon the abbreviation factors of its basic plan. The abbreviation efficiency should be improved by coordinating the rules of phonetics and rules of touch reading. The lip sound of “b、p、m、f” stand for the abbreviation of “bu、pu、mu、fu”, “d, t, n, l ” stand for the abbreviation of “de, te, ne, le”, and “g, k, h, ”stand for the abbreviation of “ge, ke, he”. The abbreviation rule for uni-syllables can be applied to the multi-syllables as well.
Key words currently-used Chinese Braille abbreviation uni-syllable frequently used words homonyms
